Széchenyi Baths tickets: prices, cabins and refunds

Széchenyi charges every age the same price: there is no child, family, senior or half-day ticket. The standard price depends on the day: Monday to Thursday, Friday and the weekend, or holidays and the peak season. Two things bring it down, the Good Morning ticket for entry by 9:00 on weekdays and the Budapest Card. What changes the bill is what you add: a private changing cabin, fast track entry, the Palm House lounge, or a towel you forgot at the hotel.

This guide sets out the official 2026 prices, what the ticket includes, the locker against the cabin, refunds, where and how to buy, the Budapest Card discount and the GetYourGuide options. If you want to skip the queue, read the fast track guide; if you are packing, what to bring.

The quick answer

The standard daily ticket with a locker costs 13,200 Ft from Monday to Thursday, 14,800 Ft on Fridays and at weekends and 15,800 Ft on holidays and in the peak season. A private changing cabin costs 1,000 Ft more. The price is the same online and at the door, but the bath's own tickets are non-refundable and the date cannot be changed. Children under 14 are not admitted at all.

How much does a ticket to Széchenyi Baths cost?

13,200 Ft from Monday to Thursday, 14,800 Ft on Fridays and weekends and 15,800 Ft on holidays and in the peak season, locker included.

These are the bath's own 2026 prices, in Hungarian forint. The peak season runs from 18 December 2026 to 6 January 2027. Fast track costs 2,000 Ft more than the standard ticket on every kind of day, and it is sold online only. The Good Morning ticket is the cheapest way in, but you must enter by 9:00 and buy it on the spot.

What does the Széchenyi ticket include?

Entry to the outdoor and indoor pools, the saunas and steam rooms, and a locker, for a single entry on the day.

Outside there are three pools: the thermal pool at 38 °C, the lap pool at 26 °C and the leisure pool at 34 °C, which is 1 m deep with a current channel, jets and a neck shower. Inside, the steam and thermal areas hold pools from an 18 °C cold plunge to a 40 °C hot plunge, mostly between 28 and 38 °C, and there are 10 saunas and steam rooms. The official list counts 3 outdoor pools and 13 indoor bathing pools outside the medical area, plus 3 medical pools that are used only with a prescription.

The GetYourGuide ticket says it is valid for one entry only, so plan to stay rather than pop out for lunch. Note that the lap pool is closed for maintenance from 8 to 23 October 2026.

What is the difference between a cabin and a locker at Széchenyi Baths?

Every ticket includes a locker, big enough for a backpack. A private changing cabin costs 1,000 Ft more, holds suitcases and can be shared by two people.

With a locker you change in the shared changing area and store your things in a locker that takes a backpack. A cabin is a small private room where you change and leave your clothes and bags, and you can keep it for the whole day. Two people can share one cabin, which brings the extra cost down to 500 Ft each.

  • Locker: included in every ticket; enough for a backpack.
  • Cabin: +1,000 Ft; room for suitcases; yours all day; two people can share.
  • Safe: 1,100 Ft for valuables.

Coming straight from the airport or a checkout with luggage? Take the cabin.

Can you get a refund on a Széchenyi ticket?

Not on the bath's own ticket: official online tickets are non-refundable and the date cannot be changed. The GetYourGuide day ticket has free cancellation up to 24 hours before.

The official FAQ is blunt: there are no date changes and no refunds. The one comfort is that official tickets are not personal, so you can pass yours on to someone else. On GetYourGuide, the flagship Széchenyi day ticket resells the bath's ticket with every option and with free cancellation up to 24 hours in advance.

Here are the two prices side by side, so you can weigh flexibility against cost yourself: the bath's own standard ticket costs 13,200 Ft from Monday to Thursday, and the GetYourGuide ticket starts from $44 per person (USD; the final price depends on the date and option). GetYourGuide prices move, and so do exchange rates.

Do I need to book Széchenyi Baths in advance?

No, you can just turn up, but online tickets have priority when the bath is full, so booking ahead protects a busy day.

The price is the same online and on the spot. Tickets can be booked up to 180 days ahead. After booking you get a QR code, which you exchange at the entrance for a wristband or proxy watch that opens your locker or cabin.

  • Ticket machines: at the bath entrance opposite the Circus; cards only.
  • Cash: at the ticket offices of the Steam entrance; forint only, euro is not accepted.
  • Last entry: 1 hour before closing.

If you are going on a Friday, a weekend or in the peak season, book; on a quiet weekday morning the door works. The best time to visit guide has the hours.

Is there a child, family or senior ticket at Széchenyi?

No. There is one ticket for all ages, and since 1 August 2025 children under 14 are not admitted at all, outdoor pools included.

The only exception for under-14s is a specialist's medical certificate approved 24 hours ahead, and ID may be checked at the door. For families, the bath itself points to three other baths: Csillaghegy, Paskál and Palatinus. There is no half-day ticket either. Budapest residents have their own tickets, a 2-hour evening ticket and a student price for BudapestGO pass holders; for visitors, the ways to pay less are the Good Morning ticket and the Budapest Card.

Is there a discount code for Széchenyi Baths?

The bath lists no promo code. A visitor can pay less in two ways: the Budapest Card, 20% off the standard ticket with a locker bought on the spot, and the Good Morning ticket for entry by 9:00 on weekdays.

The Budapest Card discount applies only at the Steam entrance near the M1 station, and not to Fast Track, Good Morning, Private Spa or Dayspalm tickets. The Good Morning ticket is the cheapest ticket of the day: 10,500 Ft from Monday to Thursday, 11,800 Ft on Fridays, entry by 9:00, sold on the spot only.

Be wary of anything that promises a cheaper ticket with a code: the official price is the same online and at the door. Where you can save is on extras. Bring your own towel and flip-flops, because nothing can be rented and buying both on site costs 11,100 Ft; the packing guide has the shop prices.

Prefer to keep your plans flexible? The day ticket on GetYourGuide can be cancelled for free up to 24 hours before.
